Junior Developer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Build, maintain and debug REST APIs using Express, Fastify (Node.js) and FastAPI (Python).

Read and understand existing Python and JavaScript code, and make safe, well-tested changes to it.

Design database schemas and write queries and migrations using Drizzle and Prisma ORMs.

Work with PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB, choosing the right data model for the use case.

Deploy, monitor and troubleshoot services on AWS in collaboration with the team.

Use AI coding assistants to work faster, while reviewing and testing every piece of generated code.

Participate in code reviews, write basic unit tests, and document the work you deliver

REQUIRED SKILLS

Languages

Working knowledge of Python and JavaScript; able to read and follow unfamiliar code in either.

Frameworks

Express, Fastify and FastAPI: routing, middleware/hooks, request validation, error handling.

ORMs

Drizzle and Prisma: schema definition, migrations, relations and query building.

SQL Databases

PostgreSQL and MySQL: joins, indexes, transactions and basic query optimisation.

NoSQL Databases

MongoDB: document modelling, CRUD operations, indexes and aggregation basics.

AWS

Comfortable with core services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, IAM and CloudWatch.

AI

Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor) for coding, debugging and learning; able to judge and verify AI output.

Tooling

Git and pull-request workflows; testing APIs with Postman or similar tools.

GOOD TO HAVE

TypeScript, Docker, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions), Redis, or exposure to message queues.

Experience integrating LLM APIs into applications; basic knowledge of stock market concepts such as equities, derivatives and order types.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

A genuine interest in finance, capital markets and investing, and curiosity about how trading and investment products work.

A degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent practical experience (internships and personal projects count).

Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and clear communication when asking questions or raising blockers.
