Job Description

Write clean, reusable code that’s easier to read and test

Actively participate in all phases of software engineering including design, development, testing and production release in an Agile environment.

Build products that perform, scale, are highly available and fault tolerant with automated failover capabilities.

Contribute novel ideas and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver and improve Blackhawk systems.

Collaborate with product architects, product owners, and other stakeholders to create great product requirements

Participate in resolving customer problems effectively through new features as well as improving existing features.

Required:

Bachelor's degree with good knowledge and programming experience in Java technology and solid understanding of relational databases.

1+ year of backend engineering experience

Test, deploy, maintain, & improve software. Write code, test & debug new software, make enhancements to existing software from clear requirements. Work closely with the product mgmt team to ensure product builds are done effectively.

Communicates with immediate team members, QA engineers, and senior developers on technical implementation details. Participates in team meetings and code reviews.

Strong focus on internal team collaboration and learning software engineering best practices.

Takes ownership of assigned development tasks and proactively identifies improvements in code quality and development processes. Seeks guidance on complex technical decisions while demonstrating increasing autonomous judgment on routine software engineering activities and bug resolution.

Demonstrates curiosity about emerging software technologies, development methodologies, and engineering best practices relevant to payment systems development. Suggests incremental improvements to code structure, testing processes, and development workflows.

Preferred:

Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including RDS and EC2

Experience with container-based application development using Docker/Kubernetes

Experience with DevOps skills
